Homework
We encourage students to spend at least 20 minutes every night on homework. The green homework folder will be sent home every Monday and should be returned the following Monday with the completed assignments. Each week your student will be expected to read, write a response in their reading journal, and complete several math worksheets. It is also helpful to practice addition and subtraction math facts.
Tardies & Absences
School starts promptly at 8:10 am. –Students who arrive after 8:10 am will be marked tardy. Please call the school attendance line (503-431-4470) or email ([email protected]) if your student is absent. Do not drop students off before 7:50 am.
School dismissal is at 2:30 pm. Please try to schedule appointments and vacations during non-school hours. If you pick up your child early, you must check out in the office first. Please send a note or call if a child is going home a different way than usual.
Lunch
Each student has a lunch account. A student may purchase a full meal or only milk. You may send cash or a check in an envelope with the student’s first and last name. You can also pay for meals online. Free/Reduced lunch applications available in the office. For more information on meals costs, menus, and online meal payment click here: Food Service Department
Birthdays
Birthdays are acknowledged on the morning announcements and receive a card and pencil from the office. Please, do not send birthday treats. This is a school-wide policy.
Star of the Week
Each student will be our star student for one week. A reminder note will go home the week before.
Classroom Behavior
Students can earn "high fives" by being safe, kind and responsible. These "high fives" can be used for a classroom drawing to pick from a prize box every Friday. There is also a school wide prize drawing every Friday and a student store where students can purchase items using their high fives. As a class, we try to fill up our "compliment jar" to earn a class party. This year we are using the PAX behavior system. "PAX" is considered good behavior and "spleems" are undesirable behaviors.
Library
Students are allowed to check out two books at a time.
